Ian Carmichael, superb comedy actor

Ian Carmichael, the appealing and highly talented British actor who played Lord Peter Wimsey and Bertie Wooster on UK television and radio, has died at the age of 89. He was one of the greats. Read a very good obituary here.

Carmichael also excelled in comedy films such as the classic I’m All Right Jack, Lucky Jim, Private’s Progress, Brothers in Law, and School for Scoundrels. His great quality as a film actor was to project an essential decency and some intelligence under a rather silly and naive surface.
