An excellent article about an excellent and underrated musician from the Secret Music Capital of the US, Memphis. In 1997 I was at the University of Memphis at a seminar about Elvis (it was the 20th Anniversary of his passing)that was headed by Sam Philips & Peter Guralnick. At the question & answer session that followed, I asked Sam Philips of his opinion of Charlie Rich. He looked at me as if I shot him & then he said that he was the best musician that he had ever worked with and then he asked the audience to give a hand for him, which they did.

P.S.: I also enjoyed his version of "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby", which came out about the same time as Sam & Dave's
